The Bigger Purpose Behind Bible Quizzing

Bible Quizzing may feel like just memorization and competition, but it’s really about something much deeper — planting God’s Word in our hearts. The study hours, the verses, even the tiring moments matter, because we never know how God will use that obedience later. One verse memorized today could be the comfort someone needs years from now. Don’t underestimate the small steps. When God’s Word is in young people, God can grow something far bigger than we imagine.

"There are moments in life when we have no idea how significant they are until we look back. Sometimes, we obey God without knowing where that obedience will lead. Sometimes, we take one small step, not realizing that God is preparing to use it for something much bigger.
Bible Quizzing has taught me this. When you first hear about Bible Quizzing, it can seem like just another activity or game. You study chapters, memorize verses, attend practices, compete against other quizzers, and hopefully answer a few questions correctly. But somewhere along the way, you begin to realize that it is much more than a competition. It is Scripture getting into your heart.

There have been moments when studying felt tiring, when memorizing seemed difficult, when preparation did not go as planned, and when I wondered whether all the effort was really worth it. But then I would remember why we were doing it. We were not simply preparing to win a quiz. We were hiding God’s Word in our hearts. And that changed the way I looked at everything.
One thing Bible Quizzing has reminded me of is that we may never fully know the impact of our obedience. A quizzer may memorize a verse today and remember it years from now when they desperately need it. A coach may encourage one young person without realizing how deeply those words affected them. Someone may hear about Bible Quizzing for the first time and discover a love for God’s Word that changes the direction of their life.

We often measure success by what we can see immediately. God doesn’t. So, if you are involved in Bible Quizzing, don’t underestimate what you are doing. The hours of study matter. The verses you memorize matter. The practices matter. Even the difficult moments matter. And if you are tired, don’t give up. What if the thing you are tempted to quit is the very thing God intends to use to influence someone else’s life? Keep studying. Keep serving. Keep memorizing. Keep showing up. Because one day, you may look back and realize that what seemed like a small commitment was actually part of something much greater.

I don’t know everything God will do through Bible Quizzing. But I have learned one thing: When God’s Word is planted in the hearts of young people, we should never underestimate what God can grow from it. So keep going. Someone’s life may be changed because you did." __By Desmond Idakari
